Gemstones are classified into four main categories which are it's 4 c's. 4c's stands for
1. Carat- The weight of the stone, Carat/Rati defines as per the need and also tell us about the rate more the weight is, more it's expensive
2. Colour- colour is the natural colour of the stone, more the natural or pleasant colour is more it's expensive and more it's useful.
3. Clarity- clarity stands for how the transparent is the stone or how the clear it is. more clear more expensive and more useful.
4. Cut- Cut's are also the major prospective used for effectiveness and price. More the stone is in good cut and shape, more it's useful & expensive
These 4c's plays a major role in the determination of a good stone or the price of a stone. There are also some other minor determination of the stones which are also considered are the mines or the origin, fire in a stone(especially for opal, lapis lazuli etc),
There are two main categories of gemstones which are precious and semi-precious and also the substitute.
Precious- are those stones which are in high cost, natural form, pure in nature like- sapphire, ruby, Catseye, Diamond, Emerald, Coral, Pearl, Garnet, Opal etc.
Semi-precious are the low-cost stones but they are also natural and pure in nature but less compared to precious one's like topz, citrine, white coral, lapis lazuli, firoza etc.
Substitute are the stones which may or may not be in pure nature can be copy or can be semi-precious stones like a.d, C.z, Moissanite, hakik, Onex etc.
